   There are many discrepancies in the translation of some passages of the Torah. Targum Onkelos (the canonical translation of the Torah into Aramaic) excludes a different understanding. If you have any doubts about the translation of a word, then look into Onkelos. This translation provide a simple and profound understanding of the original text. About two thousand years ago, it was approved by the sages and became widespread in all communities in Israel. With regard to the Torah reading was established rule that "the Scriptures twice, once Targum," that is the verse should be read twice in the holy language, and one time in Aramaic.
   In Ashkenazi, this rule has come to the end, since very few knows Aramaic. But every Jew should individually read the chapter of the Torah in Hebrew (twice) and the translation of Onkelos (once).
    Some authorities substitute Onkelos by Rashi's commentary, but most still look at Onkelos. Rashi does not follow Onkelos or Midrash. The main (almost sole) criterion for his comments - according to the direct sense of what was said. However, today's reader the interpretation of Rashi is often not clear. In this case it is advisable to add Perush (comment) by Rabbi Ovadia of Bartanura. This complements the great commentator and explains difficult passages and interpretations of Rashi.

    Our publishing house is planning to implement a unique project, "Targum Onkelos to the Torah with Rashi's interpretations and additional comments Bartanura." Translation of the Hebrew and Aramaic into Russian will be made by Frima Gurfinkel, known to readers by Tanach project with comments by Rishonim (now published over 15 volumes , 5 volumes are planned for release in the next two years).
    The expected volume of this edition is over 4,500 pages (ten volumes). Books are planning to print on colored paper quality, cover is made of artificial leather. Books will have an Askama by the Chief Rabbi of Israel Yona Metzger. The project can be completed within two and a half years. The cost of the project - 340'000 USD.
