book that will be given to participants in this summer ICHEIC camps.
At the beginning of this camp, every boy and girl will receive this book, that will accompany them on their journey for Jewish discovery. The current edition follows the educational and Jewish principles set last year. It will play a very meaningful role as the campers explore their camp environment through a process of dialogue, debate and commentary, all of which will allow each child to find his or her personal place within the Jewish world.
This year's project book is based on the theme of returning to one's roots. This concept is expressed through text (using the works of Sholem Aleichem or photos of Israel for example) as well as the book's visual design. Within the main topic, there are several subheadings that were used to select the texts: Jewish culture and arts (Elie Wiesel, Marc Chagall), Yiddish (Isaac Bashevis Singer), Holocaust (Moshe Prager), tradition (Yitzhak Luria), Israel (Avraham Shlonsky, S.I. Agnon) and Hebrew language (Yehuda Alharizi).
Children in St. Petersburg, who already touched the taste of the ICHEIC project last year, are eagerly awaiting the book. In Moscow, it symbolizes the beginning of the camp season for children who are joining the project for the first time this summer.
