This book gives a very detailed, yet brief, account of the Arab-Israel war of 1967. The authors present a reasonably balanced account of events but are clearly pro-israel.
The opening chapter provides a brief historical perspective of the Jews, Arabs and the country that is now Israel. It then moves onto discuss the situation in the middle east at that time, including the build up of arab troops in Jordan, Syria and particulalry Egypt prior to the war commencing. Despite what some people may think the Arabs (especilly President Nassar of Egypt) were giving out definate signs that war with Israel was imminent, especially when Egypt forced UN peacekeepers out of the land between them and Israel. Diplomatic wrangles in the talk shop that is the UN are also discussed.
The authors then describe in vivid detail how Israel, belieivng that they were about to be attacked, launched a pre-emptive attack on its neighbours and single handedly wiped out their opponents air force in a few days.
Accounts of the land war are then provided which describe how the Arabs capitulated in less than a week from the onslaught of the Jews. For miltary historians this makes good reading.
The authors do finish on the need for and the benefits and importance of peace in the Middle East.
